Antimicrobial Meds Require a Prescription as of December 1st

This is a reminder that the legislation surrounding the responsible use of medically important antimicrobials in animals comes into full force on December 1, 2018.  The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Health Canada are working together on this project with the purpose of protecting the health and safety of people, food, animals and plants, in Canada whereby minimizing the development and spread of antimicrobial resistance.  As of the first of the month all substances which have been classified as medically important microbials (MIAs) can only be obtained through a veterinary prescription.

Below are links to resource pages which explain the regulations and which antimicrobials are included.
