This one-of-a-kind commemorative poster was created to celebrate the military legacy of a friend’s family. Spanning over a century—from the Riel Rebellion through both World Wars—the piece brings together service records, photographs, uniforms, medals, and memorabilia connected to seven family members.
Working closely with the client’s research and historical documentation, I handled all aspects of design and execution: layout, restoration of old photographs, artifact photography, and visual storytelling. While not a commercial project, the work demanded clarity, sensitivity, and attention to detail—ensuring that each individual was honoured within the larger historical narrative.
Designed as a keepsake, the poster was printed and distributed to a small circle of family members and descendants on the occasion of a special anniversary.
While I provided creative direction and project oversight—among other tasks—for most of my portfolio samples, the final outcome reflects a collaborative process. I worked closely with professionals across disciplines, including writers, developers, illustrators, photographers, printers, and fellow designers. My role included guiding strategy and execution while empowering others to contribute their strengths. I believe leadership in design means conducting the orchestra, not playing every instrument.
