Discover the 2020 Award Winners!


The Canadian Pet Community Awards presented by PIJAC Canada highlights the work of exceptional Canadian individuals and businesses who are 2020 PIJAC Canada members. These are the people who go the extra mile in educating their clients and readily offering support, whether it be related to animal well-being, the promotion of responsible pet ownership, product related, customer support or outstanding community involvement.

The Awards represent four (4) Canadian regions and are presented during our tradeshows:

Quebec – presented at the 2020 National Pet Industry Show – Drummondville

Ontario – presented at the 2019 National Pet Industry Show – Toronto

Maritimes – presented at the 2019 National Pet Industry Show – Toronto

Western – presented at the 2019 Western Canadian Pet Industry Show – Vancouver

Who can nominate who?

The nomination process is open to anyone from the pet community. The top 5 nominated candidates in each category will be announced prior to the awards ceremony. The candidate with the most nominations will win in their respective category. Note: All nominated candidates must be a member of PIJAC Canada.

Each event includes five (5) award categories:

Criteria for Each Category

Manufacturing or Distribution Sales Representative

  • Has a talent for helping business owners and their staff learn about the products and how they can benefit their clients
  • Is always readily available for ongoing support for clients and pet owners
  • Willingly participates in their clients’ community events, lending a hand and engaging pet families
  • Company must be PIJAC Canada member (Canadian, American or International)
  • Sales’ Rep must be Canadian and do business within the Canadian market

Retailer – Independent Business or Chain Store Location

  • Must be a brick and mortar location (when voting for the Chain Store Retailer Award, you are voting for one (1) specific franchisee or location, not the whole franchise).
  • Promotes responsible pet ownership in the store and community (ex: take-home information packages, care workshops, school visits, etc.)
  • Supports pet & pet families in the community (ex: pet food bank, raising awareness on issues impacting pets in the community, assisting other animal organizations, etc.)
  • Store location must be Canadian based

Pet Service Provider

  • Must be an individual offering pet services through their own registered business
  • Promotes responsible pet ownership through their services and community (ex: take-home information packages, after-sale care program, care workshops, school visits, etc.)
  • Supports pet & pet families in the community (ex: pet food bank, raising awareness on issues impacting pets in the community, assisting other animal organizations, etc.)
  • Company location must be Canadian based
