Louis McCann Presented with Lifetime Achievement Award from PIJAC (USA)

March 27, 2018 – Ottawa, ON The Board of Directors and staff at PIJAC Canada are proud to share the news, that last week our long time President & CEO, Louis McCann received  the Nancy G. Knutson Lifetime Achievement award from PIJAC (USA) .   The award, presented during their annual general meeting at the Global Pet Expo, was bestowed for Louis’ 40 years of work advocating on behalf of companion animals and pet owners.  PIJAC Canada Board Chairman, Mike Campbell (MarCam Pet Nutrition), accepted the award on his behalf and shared a letter from him.

“When I started with PIJAC Canada in the early 90’s I was fresh from being the chief inspector of cruelty investigations for the Montreal SPCA.  Many people wondered why I took a job in the industry after having inspected so many pet stores.  It was because of what I saw that I was inspired to take a leading role with PIJAC Canada.  I saw a shared passion for pets and I saw incredible potential for businesses to grow their role in the education of pet care and animal wellbeing.   I felt that I could make a difference.   A few years ago we started a campaign called Animal Welfare is Everyone’s Business, where we recognize businesses who go above and beyond to ensure positive pet experiences for pet families.  I truly believe that everyone, regardless of sector has a critical role to play.  This is one of many philosophies we share with PIJAC and it has been a true honor to work with our American counterparts.  To be recognized by such an amazing group is humbling and I couldn’t be prouder to be part of the PIJAC movement.” – Louis McCann
