Thousands Raised for Calgary Food Bank

Thousands Raised for Calgary Food Bank at the Western Canadian Pet Industry Gala

Following a very busy first day at the Western Canadian Pet Industry Trade Show the positive energy and excitement of the day carried over into the evening for the Full House Gala and Fundraiser.  We are delighted to reveal that $5000 was raised to help the Calgary Food Bank purchase supplies to assist pet families in need.

This grand total was made possible in two ways. A portion of ticket sales went directly to the food bank which means our participants, simply by choosing to attend the event, have made a big impact.   Secondly, thanks to industry members and some local businesses we received some wonderful items for our silent auction. In good spirits, guests had their credit cards ready and placed bids for every item on the table  One hundred percent of these proceeds are also going directly to the food bank.  We are proud of our industry colleagues and on a night where we celebrate their dedication to pet families and their communities we could not have asked for more.”

Cyndi Drummond, Development Coordinator for the Calgary Food Bank was on hand to speak about the realities of people who access their services and how at times there are those who feel they have to choose between selecting food for themselves and their pets. Thankfully this is not the case in Calgary and surrounding area. The Food Bank can receive donations earmarked for pet supplies and put them to good use to assist their clients.  A small dedicated corner of their facility allows pet families to pick up supplies that feed their animal family members too.

Every year we connect with a community organization in each of the locations were their trade shows are hosted.  We are looking forward to continuing our community outreach this year in Drummondville Quebec and the Toronto area.   Happy pet families, mean healthy pets.  Keep an eye on our facebook page to see who we are working with next.
