Asian Market Tour – Join us for a 3 country trade mission

Shanghai, China – Seoul, South Korea – Taipei, Taiwan

As one of the top growth regions for pet products, PIJAC Canada has put together a special trade mission to Asia.  As part of our ongoing efforts to help Canadian small to medium pet businesses enter the global market, the trip was crafted to offer access to this market for companies who are, or are interested in becoming, export-ready, allowing them to explore the sector and research potential opportunities.  Our objective is to help members develop business in these countries by meeting potential buyers, agents, importers, distributors, partners, local businesses and government agencies in the host country. We will also be investigating what products and trends are popular in these markets.

The mission stops in Shanghai, China, Seoul, South Korea and Taipei, Taiwan and will include:

  • Visit the biggest Industry Trade Shows in Asia (CIPS (China) and K Pet (South Korea)
    • We will be hosting a Canadian Pavilion for the first time at CIPS with six of our members
    • Gain valuable market insight from previous mission members
  • Access to business and government officials
  • B2B business matchmaking sessions
  • Networking opportunities at show
  • Briefing on Market information
  • Access to PIJAC Canada’s resources and network of contacts
  • Hotel discount
  • Transportation for tour visit
  • Translation during store and show visits

Previous mission members have had terrific success and are now participating in the first-ever Canadian Pavilion at CIPS.   As to how participants feel about their investment, Margo Crump , CEO of the Crump Group Inc, sums it up well, “Following our success and growth in Canada and the US we wanted to expand Crumps Naturals beyond North American borders.  With the uptick in pet ownership in this part of the world we felt the market was ripe for us to branch out into this part of the world.  Leveraging these opportunities exposes our products to a much larger audience in a way that we could not have achieved, had we exhibited on our own.”

Market Details
China
: In 2017 the Chinese pet market reached 147 billion RMB (28 Billion CAD$) and in 2018, the market topped  167.8 billion (32 billion CAD$). – Within 3 to 5 years, the pet Industry is expected to rise more than 20%.

South Korea
: South Korea has experienced a massive jump in pet population from 4.9 million pets in 2014 to 7.5 million pets in 2018 with continuous growth predicted from 2019 to 2023.  The market potential for the sector is robust which is why this makes Seoul a perfect second stop for the Mission

Taiwan
: In Taiwan, total pet food imports have reached a record high of over 241.5 million.  As an island country, the growing trend of pet food imports is expected to continue over the next few years as pet ownership also increases. Pet families are particular about what they feed and demand for high quality and natural pet food is growing.
