The 2019 National Pet Industry Trade Show – The Biggest Show Yet!

The 2019 National Pet Industry Trade Show welcomed a record high 2000 attendees representing 8000 individual outlets!  Spread out over two days and 93,500 square feet, visitors enjoyed doing business with 304 onsite exhibitors occupying over 440 booths.

The growth of the show is evident in the attendance of mass merchandiser interest as well as the diversity of businesses carrying more pet products. Exhibitors are responding to this enhanced audience as the look of the exhibit structures are evolving into much larger and diverse, branded representations of their product marketing.   With respect to innovation, Canadian offerings are completely on trend with the global movement towards sustainable packaging, tech-enhanced toys and newer ingredient options from sources such as insects.

The National Pet Industry Trade Show wasn’t all business though! In addition to the main event, over 300 attendees “got down and boogied” at the Disco themed National Trade Show Networking Dinner. Attendees were looo-king gooood dressed in their groovy disco and 70’s attire. This dinner was a chance for attendees to network and have fun after a long day’s work. Thank you to our sponsors Farmina, Rolf C. Hagen Inc., Petcurean and Morneau Shepell for helping us make this special event such a success!

The Canadian Pet Industry Awards, sponsored by StreetDog Pet Marketing were also handed out and celebrated. And the winners are…

Cathy Bakhuis, Natural Balance – Sales Representative – Manufacturer Award
Erin Mawhinney, Leis Pet Distributing – Sales Representative – Distributor (Maritimes) Award
Jim Steele, Can-Pet Distributors Inc. – Sales Representative – Distributor (Ontario) Award
Raza Siddiqui, Pet O Pets – Independent Retailer Award

A special toast was also made in recognition of our founding members; Rolf C. Hagen, Burgham Sales Ltd and Pisces Pet Emporium, representing different sectors of our industry and spanning across Canada.

After a busy day of voting by visitors, the winners, or rather winner, was announced for Best New Product and Best Booth.
Petcurean won in both categories to wild applause!
